DIY Gingerbread House

Multi-part house with opening door, decorate it yourself

DIY Gingerbread House DIY Gingerbread House — photo 2

WARNING: the decoration does not come with the file. This is a DIY kit — the house prints plain and you decorate it yourself. The icing, the snowflakes and every painted detail in the photos were added by hand after printing and are not part of the model.

For the icing in the photos I used white PVA paint mixed with wall filler (massa corrida). It pipes like real icing, sets hard and holds its shape on the printed texture.

A gingerbread house printed in parts and assembled: 110mm across the front, 160mm long and about 144mm tall to the top of the chimney, standing on a scalloped base of 200 x 190mm. Every part fits a 256 x 256mm bed.

Key Features

Self-aligning assembly: the walls meet on 45 degree mitered corners, slide down into a groove in the base and up into grooves under the roof, so the house holds its shape while the glue sets.

Door that opens: the front door is a separate part that prints in place with its frame and a working hinge. Translucent panes push into the windows from the inside, and the chimney plugs into the roof.

Gingerbread texture: vertical boards are carved into the walls and round shingles into the roof; the top surfaces are printed with a textured ironing pattern for the baked look.

1:1 decoration template: an A4 PDF with the flat outline of every wall and roof panel at full scale, one group per page, to sketch your icing on paper before piping it onto the print.

Plates already arranged: — plate 1 "Front and back wall + door", plate 2 "Roof - both panels + chimney", plate 3 "Both side walls"; — plate 1 "Base"; — plate 1 "Window panes 0.4mm", which push into the windows from inside, ideally in a translucent filament; plus .

Print times and filament (0.20mm Standard profile, 0.4 mm nozzle): Walls: 3h48m, 86g — Roof: 4h18m, 98.5g — Base: 2h42m, 96.5g.
