Christmas Botton Fridge Magnet

Christmas botton fridge magnets with open back, three print builds

Christmas Botton Fridge Magnet

The Christmas botton designs as fridge magnets — a bow, a gingerbread cookie, a snowflake, a garland — with your own 32, 44, 50 or 58 mm badge dropped into the middle. Pick the design in the editor, set the size of your botton, and print.

The back is open: only a thin lip holds the badge in, so the badge's own magnetic back sits against the door and does the holding. That open centre is also how you push the badge out again when you want to swap it — one magnet, any badge you press.

To get a perfect fit, print the Botton Size Test model first: it sweeps a row of borders a step apart, so you can find the tolerance and the hole height your own botton press needs. Every machine presses a slightly different badge, so this is worth doing once before you print one you want to keep.

Key Features

Christmas designs, any botton size: A bow, a gingerbread cookie, a snowflake, a garland, chosen in the editor, around a 32, 44, 50 or 58 mm badge. The designs are shared with the Christmas Botton Keychain Generator, so a design made for one works for the other.

Open back, swappable badge: There is no keyring and no hanger — only a lip around the opening (5 mm wide × 0.6 mm thick by default) holds the badge in, leaving its magnetic back against the fridge door. The open centre is also how you push the badge out to swap it.

Three ways to make it, one knob: Face up stacks the artwork on the base and is the one for a multi-material printer. Face down carves the artwork into the face instead, so the piece prints on its design side. One colour per layer is the single-nozzle build: a stack of slabs, one colour each, with a pause at every boundary to swap the filament.

Round Edges: Softens the outline so the piece reads as a baked cookie rather than a cut slab. The curve spans the base's full height, and the offset beside it decides how much bigger than the drawn outline the piece starts out, so the rounding takes it back to the size it was drawn.

Reference values (Dataprint, China machine):

32 mm circle: −0.1 mm | Hole height: 3.4 mm

44 mm circle: −0.2 mm | Hole height: 4.4 mm

58 mm circle: −0.3 mm | Hole height: 5.2 mm

50 mm square: +0.8 mm | Hole height: 3.4 mm

A negative tolerance means the hole is drawn smaller than the badge, because a printed hole comes out a little wide; the square goes the other way and has to be opened up. Use these as a starting point, not an answer — a different machine will land somewhere else, which is what the size test is for.
